BPF leaders switching party continues

KOKRAJHAR: Another set back to Bodoland peoples Front(BPF) party. A senior Party leader and Ex. MLA from Tamulpur Assam LAC Constituency Mr. Chandi Basumatary has left the BPF party. In the photo, he is seen with united people’s party liberal (UPPL) supremo Pramod Boro at Guwahati on Wednesday, 24 June.

Speaking to the media Basumatary said, he will give full support to UPPL’s candidate Leho Ram Boro, a contesting candidate from Tamulpur Assam LAC Constituency. He further added, Boro will win by taking more than one lakh votes at the scheduled to be held Assam Assembly Election.

Senior BPF leader chandi Basumatary with UPPL supremo Pramod Boro.

Since, BPF lost election at the Bodoland Territorial council(BTC) election to its bitter rival UPPL in December last year, many of its party leaders from the grassroot level to the central level committee have switched their party.

The first greatest setback for BPF was when it’s incumbent MLA from Tamulpur LAC gave risignation from the party on June, 2020 and joined the BJP party, followed by Rajya sabha MP, Biswajit Daimary, who has also left the party by giving his resignation from the MP seat.

Thereafter, the drainage of the party workers from BPF party continued. Soon after the BTC council election. When the party was unable to form Government in the council. It’s elected candidate from Jomduar Bodoland Territorial council Legislative Assembly Constituency (BTCLA) seat Mr. Reo reoa Narzihary has left the party and had joined BJP, eventually he is also made one of the Executive Member (EM) from the BJP party in the BJP, UPPL and GSP alliance Government in the council.

Several other Hardcore leaders and workers of BPF party have shifted to one party or the other. BPF, once the influencial political party in BTC having been rule the council for over 15 years since it’s inception is soon going to be a party with leadership crisis. If this exodus of party’s leaders continue.

Today, by seeing many of its influential leaders ranging from the grassroot level to the central level committee switching the party. The question is whether BPF as a political party is going to face a existential crisis.

If the party’s performance in the upcoming Assam Assembly election 2021 proved to be unsatisfactory, the BPF party is going to face a huge set back in the days to come because public wants to stay with the ruling government irrespective of how the political party performances is.
