Kokrajhar: Assam Assembly Election campaigning is going on in full swing. The central leaders from different political parties are seen campaigning in different parts of Assam. Priyanka Gandhi, General Secretary of Indian National Congress(INC) for UP, is doing an aggressive campaign in Assam for the past few days.
From BJP, Union Home Minister Shri. Amit Shah is seen on Monday campaigning on behalf of its Alliance partner United People’s Party Liberal(UPPL) at Nalbari Playground, Udalguri.
He was accompanied by BTR chief Promod Boro and BJP Assam state president Ranjeet Kr. Das. Several other party leaders of the state were also present at the rally.
Amit shah has made full on attack at congress ally AIUDF leader, Badruddin Ajmal. AIUDF is a hardcore Muslim based political party of Assam. This party gets huge support from the minority Muslim community in the state. AIUDF has able to secured 13 seat in Assam Assembly Election, 2016. Where 99% of their votes comes from Muslim community.
This time congress has allied with AIUDF seeing their huge Muslim support based in the state. Congress is heavily banking on the muslim minority community votes, once congress used to get all these Muslim votes before AIUDF was formed. After AIUDF was formed on 2005, Congress Muslim votes has been sifted to AIUDF.
Time will only tell whether the congress party is going to benefit from this alliance.
Assam will be going to polls in three phase. The first phase will be on 27th March, the second phase on 1st April and the third phase on 6th April. Counting will be held on 2nd of May, along with other states going to poll this year.
